So.. my Mac had been driving me nuts for the last few months. Things like doing a video call were rendering the computer unusable and extremely slow, and drivers stopped working. Months of pain, tried everything, and I finally found the root cause.

@celso I switched from the top of the line 16" MBP to a fanless M1 Air 2+ years ago. No regrets. It's faster, cheaper, great battery life and produces no noise or heat.

Turns out that the CPU was heavilly throttling all the time (20-30% CPU performance) because the fans were clogged with dust and not doing their job at all.
